Volunteers Needed for Hopkinton Youth Lacrosse
As you know, HYL made a lot of changes last season to try to improve the players’ experience in the program. Included in these changes were an indoor skills clinic for new players in the winter, preseason practices and scrimmages at Fore Kicks, and home games hosted on turf fields at Framingham State College (Sunday games) and 911 Field in Southboro (mid-week games).
Running a growing and successful youth sports program like Hopkinton Youth Lacrosse takes a lot of planning and time. We have been blessed with good coaches, assistant coaches, and team managers, but we could really use a little more help on the administrative side so that we can continue to offer a quality program.
Please consider volunteering in some capacity for the positions below. Current board members are more than willing to help with the transition. Some of you expressed interest in volunteering in the survey, but the answers were anonymous, so your names were not captured. If you are interested in volunteering, e-mail hopkintonlax@gmail.com and come to the meeting on Thursday if you can.
Available Positions for Volunteering:
Secretary
- Send e-mail communications to hopkintonlax mailing list, coaches, and team managers
- Send confirmation e-mail to opposing teams’ coaches and referees prior to home games
- Update website
- Send registration information to Hopkinton Crier, Hopkinton Independent, and HCAM
- Download registration information and provide rosters to coaches
- Maintain master spreadsheet of all players
- Maintain mailing lists
Boston Cannons Liaison
- Set up Hopkinton Night at the Boston Cannons – schedule youth game, nominate honorary coach
- Coordinate ticket orders for Hopkinton Night and season tickets
- Try to arrange to have a Cannons player come to a practice or clinic
Schedulers
- Work with Buildings and Grounds, Southboro Parks & Rec, and FSC to secure practice and game times and fields for all teams
- Schedule mid-week games with other towns
- Secure referees for hosted mid-week games
- Sign up for Jamboree

- Scratch tickets
- Apparel
- Concession stand
